August 11th - 25th in the Matthew Flinders Gallery
If you have seen a group of strange people immersed in the trees and the mudflats along the shores of our beautiful island, you have probably seen the artists of a new exhibition on a “PAINT OUT”.
Following on from their successful “Scratch the Surface” exhibition in 2018, four contemporary Bribie artists are having another scratch this year. The original members, Deidre Nelson, John Stegeman, Helen Hall and Cheryl Mortimer have been joined this year by well-known Bribie artist, Sue Gardner.
All of these artists have an interest in the surface quality of the art, an essence of place and people, and a passion for innovation. They have been out and about at Whitepatch, Solander, Sylvan and Woorim beaches letting the sand, sunshine, water, wind and shadows interplay with their surfaces.
You are invited to come along to the Matthew Flinders gallery at the Bribie Island Community Arts Centre on Sunderland Drive, Banksia Beach to view these completed visual statements.
The exhibition opening is at 2pm on Sunday 11th August and the exhibition runs from 11th August to 1 pm Sunday 25th August.
