About Matthew Flinders

The Matthew Flinders Bicentennial Gallery marks the initiative and achievements of this master mariner, who, in 1799, was the first recorded European visitor to Bribie Island, landing here on 16 July 1799.            

   

The Matthew Flinders Gallery was opened 200 hundred years later in 1999. It showcases exhibitions of creative visual artworks throughout the year.
