Terms & Conditions for MFAP 2024

  1. Artists may enter a maximum of 2 of their own unaided ORIGINAL works, no copies, reproductions or AI.

  2. Works must have been completed after 1 January 2023, and not have been worked on in a workshop, tutorial or awarded any previous art prize. Collaborations not accepted.

  3. Work size must NOT exceed 1.02m or 40”x 40” including frame in any direction and weigh no more than 10kg. A complete diptych/triptych must comply with this rule.

  4. All 2D works must be of a sturdy structure. ALL canvases under 2.8 cm deep (28mm), MDF boards and Card must be framed. Please advise if your work is heavy or intricate and has special requirements.

  5. Exhibits must be ready to display/hang. Only use D hooks and tight framing wire, or cord with D hooks placed 1/3 of the way from the top. (DO NOT use single strand brass wire, staples, wool or fishing line).

  6. Each work must be clearly labelled with Artist’s name, Title of Work, Medium, Selling Price. Label must be placed at back bottom left of 2D work.

  7. Any artworks which require the use of 240V electricity, e.g., lamps, must be tested and tagged before delivery.

  8. Works must be for sale.  Commission on Sales is 28%. **GST applied if Artist is GST Registered.

  9. Work/s must be received between SATURDAY 29 JUNE - SUNDAY 30 JUNE & TUESDAY 2 JULY - FRIDAY 5 JULY from  9am – 12noon or by prior arrangement. No extensions.

  10. Work/s must be collected ONLY on SATURDAY 3 AUGUST, 9am – 12 noon (unless otherwise arranged). After 6 months, uncollected works become the property of the Bribie Island Community Arts Society and may be offered for sale.

  11. Exhibitors accept responsibility for freight and other charges incurred in the delivery or return of an entry. Return details need to be advised separately to the organiser before the exhibition.

  12. All entries complying with Entry Conditions will be judged, but may not be displayed due to space restriction.  There will be no refunds for work not displayed.

  13. The committee reserves the right to reject unsuitably prepared works including wet, dangerous or delicate works and to not hang work deemed, by the committee, to be damaged, dirty or unsuitable.

  14. Artists will be responsible for satisfying copyright requirements, should they have reproduced from any printed or other material – ref Copyright Act and all amendments.

  15. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  16. WHILE ALL CARE IS TAKEN, EXHIBITORS ARE REMINDED THAT BICAS DOES NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE OF WORKS.

  17. INSURANCE OF WORK IS THE ARTIST’S RESPONSIBILITY.

  18. Publicity will be arranged for the Matthew Flinders Art Exhibition and all artists consent to reproductions of their work being used for these purposes.

  19. Please carefully check details on entry form as NO CHANGES will be made to details after entry received.

  20. We welcome all forms of creative expression, ANY SUBJECT, ANY MEDIUM EXCEPT VIDEO ART.

  21. Members Prize is separate from all other prizes and awarded to a BICAS member only.

  22. Artists are encouraged to supply an artist profile to accompany their works.

  23. I understand that my work will not be hung if these Terms & Conditions are not met.
